The Department of Religion and Philosophy (REL) aims at equipping young persons to face the unprecedented rapid changes that Hong Kong has experienced in the last few decades. In doing so, students are provided with substantial information on ideas and practices of both religious and philosophical traditions and are prepared with critical, analytical and interpretative skills.
Apart from teaching, staff members in the Department are actively involved in one or several areas of research, including Buddhism, Toaism, Confucianism, Christian Theology, Biblical Studies, Ethics, Applied Ethics, Sociology of Religion, Philosophy of Religion, Western Philosophy, and Comparative Studies between the Eastern and Western Traditions.
Regular meetings are conducted to improve teaching methods and subject curriculum. Students are encouraged to initiate activities that enhance their critical thinking abilities and interpersonal skills. |
