The following three alumni from the English Department were publicly recognized for their contribution to the Hong Kong Community. They appeared on the Honours List announced by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on July 1, 2006: 　

• Mr. Glenn Tsang 曾憲鼎 (1976 graduate), retired Superintendent of Police, was awarded the Hong Kong Police Medal for Meritorious Service for his outstanding work in the disciplined services
• Professor Leung Ping-kwan 梁秉鈞 (1970 graduate) was awarded the Medal of Honour, for his valuable contribution to the academic and literary field, and for his achievements in cultural promotion
• Ms. Josephine Yeung 楊淑娟 (1982 graduate) was awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government/Public Service
