The Faculty of Arts consists of five departments: Chinese Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Music, Religion and Philosophy, Language Centre; and four research centres: Centre for Applied Ethics, Centre for Chinese Cultural Heritage, Centre for Sino-Christian Studies and Centre for Translation. The Faculty of Arts offers six undergraduate programmes in Chinese Language & Literature, English Language & Literature, Humanities, Music, Religious Studies and Translation. The Faculty also collaborates with the Faculty of Social Sciences in jointly offering the double degree of B.A. (Hons.) in English Language & Literature and B.Ed. (Hons.) in English Language Teaching. As for taught postgraduate programmes, M.A. in Chinese Literature, Language and Culture, M.A. in Language Studies, M.A. in Liberal Studies and Ethics, M.A. in Music and M.A. in Translation and Bilingual Communication are offered on both part-time and full-time basis. The research postgraduate programmes at M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels are also available for different fields of study. The Faculty of Arts offers programmes which seek to direct students into academic, intellectual, spiritual, moral and cultural adventure. Courses in the Faculty attempt to fill the needs of the community for graduates who possess strong language abilities in both Chinese and English, a range of transferable skills and creativity.
